Rebecca MaxwellRebecca Maxwell, the narrator of Blind and Busy, knows all about the value of braille and the opportunities it provides for its users. As a blind child, she attended primary school at Townsend House in Adelaide and learned all the usual school subjects using braille, plus touch typing and piano. Throughout her education, including University and Teacher Training College, braille has enabled Rebecca to live a full life and benefit from the power of accessible knowledge. Rebecca now lives in Melbourne, writes poetry, and is the current president of the Society of Women Writers, Victoria. She lives in a mainly Vietnamese language area, where she has enjoyed coaching students and teaching English to older neighbours. She is involved in the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) of the Yarra Council, and appreciates the contribution Aborginals have made to our sense of "Mother Earth", and other enriching perceptions
