The Great Emu Chase is a lively rhyming picture book that is suitable for children aged 0-8 years.

Set in an Australian Wildlife Park, it tells the story of a sprightly grandfather's determination to get his chippies back from a pilfering emu. Most people can relate to the antics of a menacing emu but would dare not to challenge such a large flightless bird. Gar however, pursues the cheeky emu through various animal enclosures and experiences several unfortunate mishaps along the way, with a Koala, Crocodile and a Wombat.

The Great Emu Chase has a repetitive line throughout the story to encourage younger children to get involved and will keep them engaged from beginning to end. The older children will appreciate the detailed illustrations, and the absurd situations will definitely appeal to their developing sense of humour.

A very funny story that will have children wanting to have it read to them over and over again. An all-Australian book, written, illustrated and printed in Australia.

Sarah Palmer

I am a passionate advocate for the care and education of young children and have worked as an Early Childhood Professional within the community, in Long Day Care Centres and Preschool settings for over 15 years.

I have completed an Associate Diploma of Social Science (Child Studies) and a Bachelor of Teaching (0-5 years) at Charles Sturt University.

I currently share my time between coordinating a Mobile Toy and Book Library, caring for my two young daughters, writing picture book stories and conducting readings of my book at local schools and childcare centres.

I started writing my own stories because I wanted to directly contribute to developing a love and appreciation of books in children from an early age, so that they can later become competent and successful readers and learners.

I write stories that include rhyme, repetition and humour, because I believe that reading should be a fun and memorable experience for children. I base my stories on Australian characters and content and use situations and experiences that young children can relate to.

The Great Emu Chase is my first self published title and I am currently in the process of producing the second book.
