Each of these heartwarming stories has a moral, portraying many aspects of life children can identify with. Often touching on sensitive issues, children will relate to Hammie in a way that reinforces their confidence and values.

Winning a poetry competition at the age of eight, author Cathie Whitmore has always had a love of rhyming. Totally unaware of her underlying talent to write for children, Cathie's creativity barely surfaced throughout the years, confined mainly to short poems and the odd verse on a greeting card, to friends and family.
In August 2006, Cathie, then aged 54 and a grandmother of five, was asked to write a children's story for her friend at University, as a marketing exercise. Unbelievably, her childhood world of rhyming words came instantly flooding back, consuming her with a passion for writing, she never knew existed.
Cathie then went on to write the next nine stories in the series titled The Adventures of Hammie. Twinkle the Christmas Star, written in November 2006, was Cathie's eleventh story, but the first to be published in June 2009.
