The Best Book on Satsuma

Tom Kiernan was born in 1943 and started collecting Japanese antiques, aged 10, from which he developed a lifetime passion for all Japanese antique works of art.

It became his passion and study and still is to the present day as collector and dealer, not only in Satsuma but Japanese bronzes, cloisonne inro, netsuke, and genuine antique Samuria swords and armour.

Satsuma Artists signed their work in Kanji, old script, so it is hard for modern Japanese language students to translate, hence many Satsuma signatures are translated incorrectly, which is why Tom decided to write this book hoping it would help dealers and collectors alike.
